Wild Wonderers
BUSH SCHOOL - uses nature as the classroom and challenge as the teacher.
Our signature program aimed at 7-13 year olds.
A wonderfully immersive and transformative experience that combines wonder whilst wandering. Where children are gifted the time and space to follow their CURIOSITY, develop deep connections with others, and GROW in confidence. All whilst being in the healing and calming effects of nature.
Preparing Children for a Future We Can't Yet Imagine
Every parent wants the same thing—to see their child grow into a happy, confident, capable adult who can navigate life's challenges, build healthy relationships and find their place in the world.
But preparing children for the future has never been more challenging.
The world they will inherit is changing at an extraordinary pace. Artificial intelligence, automation and emerging technologies are transforming the way we live and work, and many of the careers our children will have don't even exist yet.
So how do we prepare children for a future we can't predict?
Through our Bush School programme Wild Wonderers - we believe the answer isn't simply giving children more knowledge.
It is helping them develop the human qualities that will never become obsolete—qualities that technology cannot replace.
We are committed to growing children who are physically resilient, emotionally intelligent, adaptable, creative, compassionate and confident.
Children who can think critically, solve problems, communicate effectively, work collaboratively, persevere through challenges and continue learning throughout their lives.
These are the qualities consistently identified by employers, educators and researchers as being essential for the future—not just for successful careers, but for healthy relationships, strong communities and meaningful lives.
Growing Humans Through Nature
Nature provides the perfect classroom for developing resilience.
Children naturally encounter challenge. They build shelters that collapse, fires that won't light, disagreements with friends, difficult terrain to navigate and problems that don't have obvious solutions.
Rather than solving these challenges for them, we guide children as they learn to think creatively, persevere, work together and discover that they are capable of far more than they first believed.
Every challenge becomes an opportunity to grow.
Respectful Communication Is at the Heart of Everything We Do
Physical resilience is only part of the picture. Children also need emotional resilience—the ability to recognise their emotions, express themselves respectfully, understand others, resolve conflict and build healthy relationships. That is why the principles of Nonviolent Communication (NVC) underpin everything we do.
Rather than relying on rewards, punishments or adults stepping in to solve every conflict, we coach children to identify their feelings, understand the needs behind behaviour, listen with empathy and work together to find respectful solutions.
These skills help children develop emotional intelligence, confidence, self-awareness and compassion.
They learn that their needs matter, that other people's needs matter too, and that conflict can become an opportunity for understanding rather than something to fear.
We believe these are among the most important life skills a child can develop, because they shape not only who they become, but the families, workplaces and communities they will one day help create.
Learning Through Adventure
The Wild Wonderers Bush School programme intentionally develops lifelong skills including:
Physical and emotional resilience
Respectful communication
Emotional intelligence
Collaboration and teamwork
Leadership and responsibility
Creativity and innovation
Critical thinking and problem solving
Adaptability and perseverance
Confidence and independence
Self-awareness and empathy
Children develop these qualities while advancing their bushcraft skills through:
Shelter building
Fire lighting and outdoor cooking
Bush exploration and navigation
Safe knife skills
Making hunting and gathering implements
Crafting with natural materials
Survival challenges
Bush first aid
Natural and bush medicine
And much more...
Each term, children graduate with their own piece of survival equipment. When they have demonstrated responsibility, maturity and safe decision-making, they may earn the privilege of receiving their own knife or flint (full-term attendees only).
Each programme is intentionally limited to just 15 children. This allows us to build genuine relationships with every child, understand their unique strengths and challenges, and support them in developing confidence, responsibility and resilience at their own pace.
Our Mission
Our mission reaches far beyond teaching bushcraft. We exist to nurture a generation of resilient, compassionate and capable young people — children who know who they are, communicate with empathy, care for and feel connected to the natural world, contribute positively to their communities and face life's challenges with courage and confidence.
Because while we cannot predict what the future will look like, we can help prepare children with the character, skills and resilience to thrive in whatever future awaits them.
If you would like to see whether your child would thrive with an opportunity like this - they could try it out during the school holiday programmes

“Let children experience the natural consequences of risk and failure, and they will build true strength.”
“We can best help children learn not by deciding what we think they should learn, and think of clever ways to teach it, but by making the world, as far as we can, accessible to them.” — John Holt
